Improvement game on game has been the focus for Enniskillen so far in their championship campaign and midfielder Brandon Horan says that they are targeting further improvement this Sunday when they take on Erne Gaels in Kinawley with a place in the SFC final the prize for the winner.
Holders Enniskillen topped their group following wins over Ederney, Kinawley and Devenish and Horan states that they want to continue to build on that and make it through to a third consecutive final.
“We have just been taking it game by game and we have got better as the games have gone on. We started a bit slow against Ederney but we have improved each game since then and we will be looking to improve again and perform on Sunday,” he said.
Horan knows that Erne Gaels possess a lot of quality in their ranks and with Enniskillen having defeated the Belleek outfit in last year’s final he feels that they will be keen to put that result right.
“Erne Gaels are a great team, they have a lot of great players and are pacy and fit so we know we will have to be on top of our game to beat them.
“They will fancy themselves like most teams will in a semi final and I’m sure they will look to last year and try to avenge that.
“We know though if we stick to our gameplan and perform we have a great chance as well. We’ll just be looking to perform and hopefully we can come out on the right side of the result.”
Preparations have gone well for Enniskillen and Horan has nothing but praise for the players who haven’t seen any game time but continue to drive things on.
“We enjoy going to training and we have the numbers to make training worthwhile and good and training has been going really well this year.
“There is always a great intensity to training and that is a credit to not only the boys that are starting and the boys on the bench but the rest of the lads who continue to show up and push the thing on. It doesn’t matter what your role is, everyone drives it on,” he added.
So, what’s the key to Enniskillen winning on Sunday?
“As I said, we know that if we perform we have a great chance of winning so firstly it is about taking care of our own performance. W need to limit the mistakes and obviously take our chances.
“We respect Belleek but once we cross the line we have a job to do and hopefully we will do it,” he said.
