FORTY-SEVEN rowers from Enniskillen Royal Boat Club made the trip to Belfast to sample the delights of the river Lagan in the annual Head of the River.
This was a much lower key affair than the previous week on the Erne but gave some of the rowers who didn’t race at home event a taste of good competition.
The conditions were quite benign and five wins were recorded over the twisting course upstream from the Albert bridge.

These girls crew included Tori Davis, Emily Black, Darcy Balfour, Abbie Magwood-McCarthy, Amy Williamson, Aoibhin Campbell, Grace Collins, Brooke Davis and cox Errie Powell. And the boys crew was made up of Cillian Donaghy, Oliver McNeary, Cameron Bell, Aiden Chen, Joshua Ihnat, Shane O’Donnell, Matthew Montgomery, Ollie Powell and cox Jacob Woods.
In the afternoon race the boys J16 eight overcame Coleraine convincingly despite it being some of the crew’s second race - Cillian Donaghy, Joshua Ihnat, Ben Cameron, Matthew Montgomery, Harley Sheppard, Bruno Maguire-Favro, Jamie Dunlop, Ollie Powell and cox Jacob Woods manned this crew.
The girls J16 crew overcame Coleraine and Neptune – Tori Davis, Sienna Howe, Zara Lindsay, Amy Lipscomb, Mya Morris, Meabh Murphy, Lin Zhang, Emily Black and cox Errie Powell came on strongly in the second half of the race to win well.
