Brendan Dolan caused a big upset as he took the scalp of number five seed and former world champion Gerwyn Price to book his place in the last 16 of the Paddy Power World Championship at Alexandra Palace tonight.
Dolan was ice cold on the doubles, hitting 13 from 26 darts, as he claimed a 4-2 win over Price. The Belcoo man picked off a 130 finish to claim the opening leg in the game and he then hit an incredible 144 finish to win the first set 3-2.
Price cruised to set two 3-1 but after Price missed three set darts in the third set cleaned up 90 with a bull finish to edge back ahead.
Price sped through set four to level up matters again but Dolan again had an answer as he took the fifth set 3-2 to move one away from victory.
Dolan then went 2-0 up in the sixth only for Price, who had the darts, to rally to make it 2-2. But 'The History Maker' was not to be denied and he hit tops to seal a famous 4-2 victory.
