Lough Erne Resort has retained its place in the world’s top 100 golf resorts produced by Golf World.
The rankings, which are regarded as the most authoritative within the golfing fraternity, place Lough Erne Resort at 76th in the listing of the globe’s ultimate stay and play locations.
The Fermanagh Lakelands countryside resort, which is included alongside world famous golfing locations including Portland, USA; Gleneagles, Scotland and Pebble Beach, USA is commended for its choice of two Championship courses and its 5-star hotel accommodation.
The judges described the Faldo Course – designed by the renowned Sir Nick Faldo – as being “packed with memorable and dramatic holes” and whilst being the big pull it was enhanced by the Castle Hume Championship course, the 5-star hotel.
This latest global recognition caps a successful period for the resort which played host to the last-ever PGA Euro-Pro Tour finals in October 2022 and received confirmation that the ‘Champion of Champions’ World Championship in association with Flogas. It attracted 250 Junior Golf Champions from over 40 countries to Lough Erne Resort for Europe’s biggest World Amateur Golf Ranking Champions Invitational, is to return to the resort in 2024.
Delighted
Reacting to the announcement, Barry McCauley, Golf Operations Manager at Lough Erne Resort, said: “Everyone at the resort is absolutely delighted with the latest ranking in the Golf World Top 100 Golf Resorts.
“These are regarded to those who know their golf as the most authoritative of their kind and to retain our 76th ranking is a testament to everyone who works so hard to keep the courses in such fantastic condition, as well as to our owners’ investment in our golf facilities.
“The service, presentation and overall experience that a golfer receives onsite at Lough Erne Resort makes for a truly memorable occasion and is a credit to the golf team overall for their efforts to make this possible.”
