Enniskillen let slip a 2-0 half-time lead away to Beragh Swifts as they remained rooted to the bottom of the table.
The visitors dominated the opening 45 minutes and for manager, Darren Rodgers, he just wished they could have kept the performance up for the whole game: “Very happy with the way we played in first half and we created a good few chances. If we had have came in three or four up at half time it wouldn’t have flattered us.
“It’s a shame we couldn’t do it for the full 90 minutes. But this was understandable as we had a few boys back from injury that haven’t played in a while. But it gives us something to build on,” said Rodgers.
Athletic threatened the Beragh goal a number of times in the first half.
Lorcan McStravick was through on goal before being stopped by a last ditch tackle while Garvan Quigley and Conor McAloon also came close.
The breakthrough game after 20 minutes when Luke Flanagan gave the keeper no chance with his finish from the edge of the box.
At the other end an excellent tackle by Jake Smith foiled a Beragh attack.
Shortly after Glenn Treacy scored from close range to make 2-0 after good work by Quigley and McAloon.
This was how the half ended however, it could have been more as Flanagan almost grabbed a second and a Beragh defender hit his own crossbar from a McAloon cross.
It was a different game in the second half as Beragh improved massively and began creating more chances.
They found their first goal on 71 minutes when Stephen Browne made the most of a mix up in the Athletic defence to make it 2-1.
Eight minutes late, Browne notched a second after a good run.
Fionn Nolan received a second yellow card for Athletic who had to hold out in the closing stages as Beragh put on the pressure and they did so to claim a point on the road.
Next up for Athletic is a trip to NFC Kesh on Saturday.
