Newry Head of the River took place on Saturday on the canal between Victoria Locks and the town of Newry.
A small number of young crews were entered from ERBC to give racing experience.
They were not disappointed and came away with two wins and some noteworthy placings.
All rowers were racing in age groups above what they would normally be in and acquitted themselves really well in cold flat conditions.
The girls Junior 16 crew were imperious in beating Coleraine and their time was faster than some adult crews and boys junior crews.
Tori Davis, Brooke Davis, Darcy Balfour, Emily Black, Aoibhin Campbell, Amy Wiliamson, Grace Collins, Abbie Magwood and cox Errie Powell were on board.
The boys J16 double scull of Ben Cameron and Jamie Dunlop beat Newry and Coleraine and some J18 crews as well - a very commendable result considering they had little time together as a crew.
The scene moves on in the next few weeks to Belfast and Sligo and then there is the big one on the Erne on March 2.
