Portora Boat Club entered three men’s crews in the Lagan Boat Club Scullers time trial in Belfast on Saturday.
Gerry Murphy returned to his normal performance levels winning the overall Masters single sculls events beating athletes from Portadown, Lagan, Belfast Boat Club, Bann and Belfast Rowing Club.
Unfortunately, the two other men’s boats were forced to withdraw through absence.
Portora Chairperson, Valerie Crawford was delighted with Murphy’s win: “Gerry is a stalwart in our Boat Club and the wider rowing community in Fermanagh.
"On the water, he is technically strong and highly determined, it is great to see him demonstrate what Fermanagh rowers are capable of. Well done Gerry.”
Portora rowers will soon be back in Belfast racing in the national standard Lagan Head of River with crews attending from all over Ireland.
After, it is the highlight of the winter rowing season, the Erne Head, a 6.2km race that will attract the best school, club and university rowers in Ireland.
