Tummery Athletic eased into the next round of the Mulhern Cup with a 6-1 win over Enniskillen Athletic at the Lakeland Forum on Saturday.
Goals from Martin Hughes, Gerard Duddy, Declan McNulty and Ryan Hanna saw the visitors run away with proceedings in the second half.
Player/Manager Hanna was delighted to make it successive cup wins after their 2-1 win over Downpatrick in the Junior Cup the previous weekend.
“Really pleased with the win and the performance. On paper, it was a really tricky draw away to another Division One opponent, but I thought for the most part we controlled possession and looked very threatening going forward.
"We created plenty of chances throughout the game, particularly in the second half, and scored some lovely goals.”
Tummery enjoyed more of the ball for the early parts but spent most of it in the middle of the park.
They eventually took the lead around the 20-minute mark as a ball down the right-hand side was put into the box and Martin Hughes flicked the ball into the Athletic net for 1-0.
Athletic goalkeeper Darragh Burke made a couple of key saves before Hanna added a second Tummery goal on the stroke of half-time.
Another ball pulled across the box found the oncoming Hanna and he slotted into the top right corner for 2-0.
Garvan Quigley registered Athletic’s only real chance in the first half with a free kick that went over the crossbar.
Hughes almost made it 3-0 early on in the second half but his effort sailed over the crossbar just inside the box.
Jake Smith and Fionn Nolan both went close with headers for Athletic and Ciarán Flaherty also had a shot from the edge of the box tipped onto the crossbar by goalkeeper Niall McCrory.
The away side made it 3-0 with just over 20 minutes to go as Gerard Duddy capitalised on Nolan’s giveaway in defence and found the bottom corner.
Neill McDermott pulled a goal back with a perfectly placed free kick just outside the area after Colm McNally was taken down.
As the home side pushed men forward, Tummery picked them off on the break with Hanna adding a fourth with a late run into the area. Declan McNulty provided the fifth goal after a nice team move before they scored late on to make it 6-1.
Tummery are back in cup action in the quarter-final of the Junior Cup this weekend against Dergview Reserves while Athletic host Killen Rangers in the Mercer League.
