Kesh sealed their spot in the next round of the Mulhern Cup with a comfortable 7-0 win over Enniskillen Galaxy on Saturday at the Bawnacre.
Ryan Campbell gave the away side a first-half lead as they scored six in the second half after Galaxy went down to 10 men before the break following Barry McCann’s red card.
The opener came from a move down the right wing that was drilled across the goal and Campbell poked it home to make it 1-0 after 25 minutes.
It was just after the half hour mark that Galaxy had a big shout for a penalty turned down and McCann’s protests led to him being shown a straight red card with the Galaxy going into the interval a goal and a man down.
Ryan Beatty made it 2-0 five minutes into the second half before goals from Campbell and Beatty again made it 4-0 with 20 minutes left.
Jake Irvine made it 5-0 with a neat finish and another low ball in from the left-hand side was dispatched by Alex Brownlee for 6-0.
Oliver Russell rounded off the scoring with a minute to go as he found the bottom left corner from Beatty’s through ball.
“I gave out at halftime,” player/manager Campbell said after the game.
“I said ‘Look boys we made a mistake in the box’ and I think we were lucky enough to get away with it for the penalty shout.
"We were lucky too that they went down to 10 men in the process. Our reactions were too flat and I wanted them to lift the tempo.
"We had men missing and had to change the formation and it took us a while to settle into it. I told the boys we needed to lift the intensity and the tempo and to move the ball quicker.
"In fairness, they responded to that in the second half and we were more like ourselves.”
Kesh return to league action against Strathroy Harps this weekend with Campbell commenting: “We have Strathroy this Saturday, so, it’s a chance to gain points on (Enniskillen) Rangers and Tummery (Athletic) because they will be in the Junior.
"It’s one of our games in hands, so we’ll be looking to get the three points and keep the pressure on them as well. It’ll be a good game to get involved in, Strathroy will give no easy game and the lads will definitely need to be up for it.”
