Tummery Athletic’s protest over the inclusion of suspended player Jordan McClure in their pre-match Junior Cup semi-final preparations has been thrown out by the IFA committee.
When contacted about the protest a spokesperson for the IFA stated: “I can confirm the Irish FA’s Junior and Youth Cup Committee received a protest from Tummery Athletic in relation to the Junior Cup semi-final between Tummery and Enniskillen Rangers.
“The committee met last night (Tuesday) to consider the protest and observations received from both clubs. Tummery’s protest was not upheld.
However, there is another avenue for Tummery to go down with the spokesperson continuing: “I can also confirm that a complaint has been received from Tummery in respect of an alleged breach of the Irish FA Disciplinary Code (in relation to the same match).
“As per normal process, the Disciplinary Committee will consider the complaint made by the club. If any action is taken by the Disciplinary Committee it will be published on the Irish FA website.”
Tummery had lodged a protest to the IFA after Rangers’ 3-1 win in Ferney Park at the end of last month. Reports suggested that a meeting at been held on Wednesday evening, over the issue, by the IFA and had concluded that no rules were broken.
Speaking on what the IFA had informed Enniskillen Rangers, chairman Tony Roofe said: “Following the deliberation, the committee unanimously agreed not to uphold the protest having found there had been no breach of the Junior Challenge Cup rules.”
He continued: “Well obviously, we are delighted to hear that, now, from what I can gather, Tummery still have the right to appeal further under a couple of other rules.
“As far as we’re concerned, the issue that was raised with the Junior Cup committee has been resolved and it’s back in Tummery’s court.”
