10-year-old Charlie Forrester sealed a third-place finish overall in the first weekend of this year’s Irish Minibike Championship.
The IMC’s 10-round competition for 2024 got underway at Kirikistown Motor Racing Circuit on Sunday where Fermanagh native Charlie achieved his first ever podium finish.
The youngster first began racing back in 2022 competing in the final three rounds of that year’s championship before completing his first full year in 2023.
He got off to a fantastic start in Kirkistown, after grabbing qualification, he went on to compete in the three races of the day.
In the first race, Charlie took a fourth-placed finish and followed that up with third place in the second race before ending his afternoon with a fifth-place finish in race three.
With over 100 competitors from around Northern Ireland, Charlie clinched a third-place finish overall after all the entrant’s results were totalled in all three races.
Kirkistown marked the start of this year's 10-round competition with Athboy Karting Circuit in Co. Meath next up at the end of April.
It will be followed by days out to Nutts Corner and Watergrass Hill in Cork, before the final two rounds back in Athboy and Kirkistown.
Charlie was supported by parents Paul and Lorraine in Kirkistown with his father revealing that Charlie will make the trip to Meath this weekend ahead of round two, on the 28th of April, to get a practice run on the course before competing at Athboy as he looks forward to day two of the championship.
