Leitrim 2-10 Fermanagh 0-11
Leitrim defeated Fermanagh in the Erne side's second outing of the Celtic Challenge Group 9.
A winning start to the competition over Longford was followed by a 2-10 to 0-11 defeat against Leitrim at Avant Money Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada on Saturday.
Cyril Dunne’s squad were missing a number of players due to football commitments and could face the same issue in their next game against Cavan which is scheduled for this weekend.
A goal midway through the first half sent the hosts into the lead and with Fermanagh pushing for a goal to win the game in the dying seconds, being two points down, forward Sean McAvoy’s shot was saved onto the post as Leitrim then countered and added a second goal to finish the tie.
McAvoy and Ben Palmer had standout games for the away side with both landing two scores while there were also points from Aodhan Maguire, Daire Donegan and Cormack McGreevy.
Manager Dunne is hoping to bounce back with a win over Cavan at the weekend.
“We beat them in the development league but we’re in a bit of a tight situation with dual players and there’s football on every weekend so we could be without some lads,” he said.
“We beat them there a few weeks ago but we had the footballers with us so I don’t know if the game will go ahead on Saturday or Sunday this weekend but if we can get a full squad out, I would be confident of winning that game," concluded Dunne.
