Kinawley player Tomas Cathcart will lead his school teammates out against Largy College for their Ulster final meeting today (Thursday).
The youngster has played his part in leading the side to another final having featured in the game in Augher back in January as his side picked up an 0-09 to 0-06 win over Coláiste Feirste of Belfast.
“It was great you know to bring the school back to another Ulster final, it was just fantastic. It was a great achievement for the school,” Cathcart said at training this week.
When asked were his teammates looking forward to Thursday’s final, Cathcart admitted it was more excitement than nerves: “Oh yeah we can’t wait, a couple of them have experienced the final a few months ago so they can’t wait to go into another one again.”
Cathcart is fresh off representing his county in their Minor Ulster Championship where he added a second-half point in a defeat to Tyrone in Belcoo last weekend.
He recognises what another Ulster title would mean for the school having trained hard under the coaching of teacher Richie O’Callaghan, principal Pat McTeggart, and coach Dom Corrigan throughout the last few months.
“It would be class, two in the same year after not winning one ever. It would be great to get two wins. It’s (training) been high intensity, [we] never quit running. It’s definitely been a higher intensity," added Cathcart.
