Splitz Gymnastics had a host of its gymnasts compete in Belfast last month for the Northern Ireland champions for 2024.
Over 250 gymnasts attended the events with around 90 partnerships also taking part.
The Fermanagh team started strong in the Grade 1 category with our women’s pair of Mollie-Kate Brewster and Arabella Thompson taking bronze which was followed by the mixed pair of Erin McGoldrick and Dualta McNabb taking the Northern Ireland Champion spot.
The Grade 2 trio of Lucia Allen, Cori McConnell and Lexi McElwaine performed a high-energy routine to the Can Can, narrowly missing out on a medal position but placing a fantastic 4th.
Next up were the Grade 3 partnerships as Sophie McGrath and Zara Fisher claimed the Northern Ireland champions title.
Annie-Rose Bannon and Caoimhe O’Reilly pushed them close, taking the silver medal while Niamh Breen and Emma McElwaine finished fourth just outside the bronze medal position.
Sofia Allen, Lucy Rice and Emily Jordan roared their way to fourth in the Grade 3 trio with a Lion King inspired mix as the Grade 4 trios of Charlotte Farrell, Poppie Beddard and Kyra Duffy also 5th, and Laoise Fogarty, Alicia McElwaine and Phoebe Rutledge came just behind them in 6th position in the biggest category of the day.
Poppy Corr and Naoise Kerrin landed fourth in the Grade 4 pairs, they were just beaten to the bronze medal by Sarah Wilson and Dale Fisher as they flew into third with a Top Gun inspired routine.
Emily Hanna and Maeve Duffy took fourth spot with their fosse style in the youth pairs category while Eva-Rose McCluskey, Jessica Hanna and Aoife McGuigan collected bronze.
The club’s highest-level trio Mena O’Reilly, Riona Dooris and Sarah Rutledge took first with a dynamic routine while also picking up bronze for their balance routine meaning they achieved silver overall.
Head coach Jennifer Hanna was thrilled with her student's performances on the day, said: “What a fantastic season our gymnasts have had. The NI Championships was moved from June to April this year so that it did not clash with exam season.
"This meant a record number of entries across the board from all of the clubs within NI as our older gymnasts were given the opportunity to enjoy their sport without the pressure of exams looming.
"I am so proud of each and every one of our Splitz gymnasts. The standard in NI is rising each year and our gymnasts here in Fermanagh continue to rise to the challenge.
"I would like to say a huge thank you to all judges, coaches, volunteers, and parents for their amazing support throughout this season and I can't wait to do it all again next time.”
The trio of Mena, Riona and Sarah and the mixed pair, Erin and Dualta, will now go on to compete in the Inter-Regional Championships, in Southampton, representing Northern Ireland in two weeks.
