Saturday saw the final round of the Forest Feast Aquasprint League of the year as Enniskillen Lakelanders faced Larne Swim Club.

Olympian and Irish record-holding coach Danielle Hill led the Larne group with the evening kicking off with Medley Relays as Group A containing Niamh Howell, Mollie-Kate Brewster, Conor Collins and Jakub Mikievicz Lumayad took a convincing victory.

In Group B, Clara Leonard, Michael Carron, James McSorley and April Huang narrowly lost out in second place.

Sophie Hanna, Crea Mullen, Daire Burke and Emmett Coyle then responded with a win in Group C. Martha McCreesh, Emma Speer, Mirko Man and Darragh Collins finished second in the final race meaning the scores were level.

The backstroke race came after and there were first-place finishes for Mollie Kate Brewster, Jakub Mikievicz Lumayad, Michael Carron and Crea Mullen with Niamh Howell, Clara Leonard, Daire Burke, Martha McCreesh and Darragh Collins taking second-place finishes.

The Lakelanders took an eight-point lead going into the breaststroke events.

The Enniskillen team continued their top form in the breaststroke event, Niamh Howell, Jakub Mikievicz Lumayad, Michael Carron, Emmett Coyle, Daire Burke, Martha McCreesh and Darragh Collins took top spots and Conor Collins, Clara Leonard, James McSorley, Keira Salcedo, Daire Burke and Emma Speer grabbed second-place finishes.

In the butterfly stroke, Larne got on top, with just two wins from Jakub Mikievicz Lumayad and Crea Mullen for Enniskillen, however, the Erne side still led by 24 points.

The Lakelanders also finished the final two rounds well to seal a 215-185 win to the delight of coaches Clare Morris and Chairperson Aideen Speer.

The MVS award (Most Valuable Swimmers) went to Jakub Mikievicz Lumayad, who led a number of impressive performances, that included 50 different Fermanagh swimmers as the sport continues to thrive.

There were opportunities for new swimmers including Emily Irvine, Tara Collins, Imogen Neal, Charlie Brewster, Domhall Burke, Daithi Owens, Tadhg Murphy, Kealan Rice, Ella Rose Carron, Joshua Hill, Elin O’Donohue, Shannon Brennan, Tori Veitch, Leah Bannon, Mavis Man, Maddie Maguire, Tiana Mbeulina, Anna May Hill, Luna Murphy, Holly McCabe, Ella Neal Haralds Uzulins and Finley Walker leaving coach Morris very pleased.

The Lakelanders will now wait for a venue to be confirmed for June 7 as they look forward to the final of the Aquasprint League where they will face Larne and Lecale.
