Tempo 2-18 Aghadrumsee 0-07
Tempo grabbed their first win of the season, after an opening day draw with Irvinestown last weekend, with a 2-18 to 0-07 victory, last Friday, against a young Aghadrumsee side.
Two second-half goals built on their halftime lead, leaving joint manager Ryan Cassidy happy with another good performance.
“We were pleased to get the win, I suppose coming away from the game, we’ve seen plenty that we need to work on going forward but any day you get a win, you are happy enough,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Magpies suffered a second Club Players’ defeat and are still without several key players.
“We tired out in the second half due to a lack of bodies at the minute,” said manager Jason O’Connor.
“We’re kind of in transition there, from last year's (Junior Championship) final, we’ve only got three of the starters from it in the first two games you know.
"We’ve a lot of boys out between injuries and just away at the minute. We had a panel of maybe 17-18 at the weekend.
"Just with injuries it's difficult, we’re working away with what we have and, in fairness to the boys, they are putting the work in fierce well but there’s just a lack of numbers more so than anything is just crippling us.”
Tempo grabbed early scores in the game with points coming from Niall McElroy, Darragh McCaffrey, Connor McNally and Ryan Ingram to make up their first-half scoring as they took a 0-09 to 0-03 lead in at halftime.
Aghadrumsee hit scores through Darren Kearns and Danny Crudden in the first half with Kearns, Crudden, James Flanagan and John-Joe Strain adding their four points in the second-half.
For Tempo, they took control of the game by displaying some good forward play in a rampant 30 minutes in front of goal-scoring 2-09 in the process.
Ryan Breen grabbed Tempo’s first goal as he found the top left corner from a sweeping hand-passing move.
Another goal and further points followed from Darragh McCaffrey, Steven Fee, Caolan Corry and Ryan Ingram to wrap up a convincing win for the Maguires.
Tempo will have this weekend off before making a trip to Coa next Friday night. Meanwhile, Aghadrumsee will host the O’Dwyers at St. Macartan’s Park this Friday evening.
