Aghadrumsee 1-09 Coa 1-12
Coa picked up their first win of the season in their second outing of the Club Players’ Competition in group 2A.
Darragh Murphy’s goal proved crucial as his strike with 15 minutes to go would provide Coa’s three-point winning margin at St Macartan’s Park on Friday.
The Magpies have suffered three defeats from three this season far but have fielded a youthful team with a number of senior players still to come back into the fold with Eddie Courtney grabbing two points on his return from injury.
Meanwhile, the O’Dwyers bounced back from defeat to Newtownbutler last time out to pick up a valuable win on the road.
Player/manager Gary Lynch said after the game: “It was a good performance from us considering we got beat by 20 points the week before.
"The lads showed great character to bounce back like that and get the win.”
The teams were level at halftime with Aghadrumsee’s Tommy O’Hara finding the net in the opening half while Chrissy Flanagan added his name to the scoresheet with a point alongside John-Joe Strain and a well-taken effort from O’Hara.
Caoilte Farry was again on the mark for Coa as he tagged on scores while Lynch, Niall Quinn and Lee McQuade were also on target.
Both teams came out of the blocks quickly in the second-half with scores kicked at either end, as Flanagan was again on target for Aghadrumsee with Strain, Eddie Courtney and Enda McCabe adding.
Farry was at the centre of the Coa attack adding his own scores and also played an important part in the all-important goal with 15 minutes to go.
He gathered a ball inside and fed Murphy on the run who steadied himself before slotting into the bottom corner.
Further points from Damian Wardman, McQuade and Jason Farry ensured Coa came out with the win.
They will face Tempo at home next, with the Maguires having a week's rest from the past weekend, while Aghadrumsee will travel St Molaise’s Park to take on Irvinestown.
