Teemore 2-14 St Pat’s, Donagh 1-06
Teemore picked up their first win of the season in convincing fashion at home to St. Pat’s on Friday in 2B of the Club Players’ Competition.
The Shamrocks drew 1-07 each with Lisnaskea in their opening match the previous weekend but last year’s Intermediate champions got back to winning ways as Ruairi Maguire and Pauric Rice netted goals in either half.
Manager Tony Collins was pleased with his side’s performance at St. Mary’s Park: “It was a good win, we had some good scores and a good amount of different scorers which was good to see.
"St Pat’s had a man sent off at the start of the second-half and that would have helped our case in getting the win but a decent performance overall.”
The sides went into halftime separated by just a point with Teemore grabbing their first goal early in the contest as Maguire slotted home from close range.
They also added points through Jack Quinlan and Damien Lee while St. Pat’s hit five points in the first-half to leave the halftime scoreline at 1-03 to 0-05.
Aaron Lee hit two early scores in the second-half to extend the Teemore lead, however, Donagh were awarded a penalty that was coolly despatched by corner-forward Eimhin Curran to bring them back into the game but they were also reduced to 14 men.
Further scores from Jack McGann, Damien Lee and McGann again saw Collins’ side begin to run away with things and take control of the game.
The returning Cian McManus also pointed with Aaron Lee converting a free midway into the half.
Pauric Rice found their second goal with not too long to go when he palmed the ball into the net after a swift attack from the hosts.
Final points from Damien Lee, Aaron McManus and Nathan McAdam closed out the win as Teemore travel to Brookeborough next on Friday, while Donagh are also on the road as they make the short trip to Maguiresbridge.
