On May 11-12, five Splitz gymnasts travelled to Southampton to compete at the Inter-Regional after qualifying in first place at the Northern Ireland preliminaries, earlier in the year.
Grade 1 mixed pair Dualta McNabb and Erin McGoldrick were first out of the Splitz gymnasts on Saturday performing a fun and upbeat routine to a musical medley from the Avengers film.
This was their first time representing the region of Northern Ireland and their first time competing away. The pair did not disappoint, performing exceptionally well finishing in 5th position and earning their highest score of the season.
On Sunday it was the turn of the IDP1 trio of Mena O’Reilly, Riona Dooris and Sarah Rutledge, who had to perform two routines in one of the highest categories of the weekend.
The dynamic routine showcased elements of throwing and catching of somersaults to an uplifting track.
This went well, creating a good atmosphere for the audience. Later that afternoon, the girls performed their second routine which showed static balances up high to a dramatic version of the final countdown.
The club are immensely proud of both partnerships and would like to thank their coaches; Jennifer Hanna, Ellie Rutledge and Siobhan Fisher for their support and encouragement in preparing the gymnasts to compete at this level.
