Willie Burleigh admitted he did not expect to be playing for a fourth Junior Cup medal until Enniskillen Rangers manager, Mickey Kerr came calling.
But after last Friday night, he is glad that he did. And so too were the whole Enniskillen Rangers contingent who were in Stangmore Park, Dungannon.
Burleigh was introduced well into the second half with the game deadlocked.
Rangers had plenty of chances but failed to convert.
Step up Burleigh.
But he admitted that he just wanted to come on to help win the game.
"I was just hoping to come on and win the game. I wasn’t worried about scoring as long as someone scored.
"It was nice to get a goal in fairness. I would have taken anyone, an own goal, anything as long as we won the game."
And Burleigh, who captained Enniskillen Rangers to three consecutive Junior Cups, felt the longer the game went on without a Rangers goal the more dangerous Cleary Celtic would become.
"The longer the game went on the more they were going to grow in confidence. We didn’t want that to happen.
"We were a wee bit nervy. I didn’t think we would have been as nervy but we settled well after getting the nerves out of the way.
"Just the first goal needed to come. The longer it went on, it was going to be difficult but thankfully it came at the right time and thankfully it was myself," said Burleigh who was beaming under the Stangmore Park floodlights.
The win makes it four Junior Cups for Burleigh and on it he said: "It is nice to get another one surely.
"I never thought I would be back for another one but thankfully Michael talked me into it."
And will he be back again next season, he said: "Definitely not!"
