Ederney 2-08 Devenish 0-09
Ederney manager Chris Kelly got the reaction he was looking for following his side’s loss to Derrylin with a five-point victory over Devenish in the Club Players’ Competition.
Shay Deazley and Manus Maguire scored second-half goals to build on a solid first-half performance at St. Joseph’s Park on Friday.
“We asked for a reaction after the Derrylin game and, to a certain extent, we got it,” manager Kelly said.
“Some of the things we looked at after that game we made improvements, now we’re not the finished article but at least there were signs that we learned from the Derrylin game and the things we worked on started to come to fruition a bit.
"There were also periods in the game that need to be a lot better.”
Ederney took a 0-07 to 0-02 advantage at halftime with points from Luke Harron, Pól McKervey, Eoin McKervey, Ryan Morris and Shaun McCarron while Jamie Flanagan grabbed both of the Devenish scores.
Maguire’s goal came from an Ederney kickout with a flowing team move down the park and Deazley’s strike was enough for their side to hold onto the lead despite an improved scoring display from the Garrison side in the second half with scores coming through Flanagan, JJ O’Brien, Cian O’Brien and Conor McGowan.
