Kinawley 2-09 Ederney 1-12

Kinawley and Ederney played out a draw at Patrick McManus Park in the Club Players’ Competition last weekend.

The sides finished in the top two with the same record of two wins, one draw and one defeat in the 1B of the Club Players’ Competition, however, the St. Joseph’s side just pipped their counterparts to first place in the group on score difference.

This Friday will see them play Derrygonnelly away from home while Kinawley will play Erne Gaels in Belleek in the second-place game in Division One.

Ederney played with a breeze in the first half on Friday evening and they took full advantage of it by building up a four-point at halftime.

Ryan Morris landed three points in the opening 30 minutes with one of them coming via a mark and another from long range using the wind well.

Luke Harron and Paul McCusker added scores and Chris Snow converted a free before Pól McKervey and a long-range Manus Maguire score pushed Ederney further ahead.

Kinawley hit first-half scores through two points from play from Dylan Boyle and free kicks from Tomás Corrigan and Dara Cathcart.

An early Kinawley goal at the start of the second half would see the home side race back into the contest as Ciaran Breen fired into the net after working the ball into the square.

Shaun McCarron and a Snow free gave Ederney their first scores of the half as two points from Corrigan and Donal Owens kept the scoreline close.

Jack Keown scored his first senior point for Ederney and Niall Maguire also added to the scoreline with Tomás and Ruari Corrigan tagging on scores Kinawley.

Tomás Corrigan would then find the net as he looked to have won the game but a high ball into the Kinawley square broke to Morris who spun and found the top corner to rescue a point and top spot for the away side.
