The Enniskillen Royal Boat Club (ERBC) were back in action at the weekend as two Junior18 crews made the long trip to the Cork City Regatta on Sunday.
The club will return to the Cork waters for the Championships in July with all leading crews with Sunday providing ideal weather conditions on the 2km international rowing course.
The girl's team picked up a comprehensive win over Skibbereen Rowing Club, St. Michael's Rowing Club, Lee Rowing Club and Castleconnell Boat Club alongside other adult crews.
They made a powerful start to the race with St. Michael’s finishing 15 seconds behind them in second place providing them with some real confidence ahead of this July.
It was a different story for the boy's eight as they finished second behind St. Joseph's of Galway in the heat but they turned their fortunes around and secured a win in the final, winning by two seconds.
Methodist College, Lee Valley Rowing Club, Neptune, Castleconnell, Blackrock and St Ignatius were the other J18 crews that finished behind them.
It was a first-ever outing for the boy's crew giving them some key experience together going into the final block of training for the Irish championships.
This coming Saturday a final race or the Junior 15 will take place at Lough Rynn in Co. Leitrim.
