Fermanagh native Isaac Johnston enjoyed a VIP trip to Germany after winning a tournament to be a Euro 2024 mascot.

The 10-year-old walked out alongside Albania and Brentford goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha for their final Euro group match against Spain on Monday night.

Isaac won a competition, held by LIDL, and flew out to Düsseldorf on Sunday, with his father Lee, before making his way onto the Merkur Spiel-Arena pitch for an unforgettable experience.

“It was an unbelievable trip,” said Lee.

“LIDL just treated them like VIP’s. They gave them kits then took us up to their headquarters in Nutts Corner and got photographs all done.

"We got a coach then to the airport, then onto the plane and the hotel. They had a games room laid out for them to be used in their free time.

"We went off to the stadium to do the rehearsal. It was just amazing. They came up and sat beside us then to watch the game.”

The Fermanagh pair watched on as Spain sealed top spot in Group B as Ferran Torres netted the only goal of the game in the 13th minute.

Isaac has been keeping a close eye on the tournament and is now a supporter of the Albania national team.

“He’s looking for an Albania goalkeeper top now,” laughed dad Lee.
