St Pat’s, Donagh 0-09 Teemore 0-13

Teemore maintained their title push with a four-point win away to St Pat’s on Sunday afternoon, taking maximum points so far in the league.

They led by seven points with a few minutes to go until St Pat’s reduced the margin late on.

There were three goals shared between the sides when they met in the Club Players’ Competition earlier in the season but neither side found the net at the weekend.

“It was a tight first-half playing against the wind,” said Shamrocks boss Tony Collins.

“In fairness, Donagh were very well organised and were up for it. Listen, it's not an easy place to go and get a win, so we were happy enough to come out with the points and move on.”

Teemore continue their pursuit of Division 1 football when they meet Irvinestown away from home on Friday.

Irvinestown came out victorious by five points when the two teams met in the third-place play-off at the beginning of June as Collins hopes his players can make it four wins from four on Friday.

“Going down to Irvinestown will not be an easy task, they are flying high and putting up a lot of big scores, so, it will be a good encounter and we’ll see how we get on in it,” he added.

The sides went into the changing rooms level at halftime at four points apiece at the Louis Leonard Memorial Park with the home side playing with the breeze.

Aaron McManus began the Teemore scoring with Aaron Lee adding to the scoresheet.

Shea Cadden kicked a mark and then a free for St Pat’s with midfielder Johnny O’Reilly also weighing in. Lee kicked Teemore’s final two scores of the half to leave it at 0-04 to 0-04.

Teemore opened up a lead in the second half, with Ronan McCaffrey grabbing the opening two points.

Eoin McManus and Oisin Murphy added to that with Jason McCaffrey, and Sean McNally bringing them up to 0-10 with only two points coming at the other end.

Murphy split the posts in between two McManus points for their final scores but a trio of points from Tiernan Wray, Eoghan Curran and O’Reilly made it 0-13 to 0-09 in the end.
