The National Rowing Centre, in Cork, will host the Irish Rowing Championships this weekend with 19 crews from Enniskillen Royal Boat Club making the long trip.

Friday will see the beginning of the club’s competition with the Men’s Junior 18 Pair of William Bogle and Hugo McChesney going up against crews from Presentation College Cork, Skibbereen, and St Joseph’s to name a few.

A host of crews will take part in Saturday’s action with the Women’s Junior Coxless Four of Zara Welsh, Isabella Wright, Acorn Cassidy and Naomi Robinson competing with 15 other crews including including Skibbereen, St Michael’s, Castleconnell BC and Neptune RC.

Inniscarra Lake will also see the Boys Junior 16 Eight team aim to retain their title from last year’s success.

The Boys Junior Eight team of Evan Donaghy, Ryan Topping, Luke Bailey, Austin Cassidy, Owen Kelly, Harry Coalter, George Kernaghan, Oliver Khew and cox Katelyn Fee also hope to defend their title-winning last year on the finish line against the crew from St Joseph’s, Galway ‘The Bish’ having lost in a photo finish the previous year.

The boys defeated The Bish at Cork Regatta a few weeks ago and will be expecting another close encounter.

There are 11 crews in the Junior Men’s Eights including a second ERBC eight of Christian Timoney, Lorcan Sreenivasan, William Bogle, Andrew Cuthbertson, Charlie Lynn, Hugo McChesney, Cillian Donaghy, Jake Sembhi and cox Abbey Wilson along with crews from Methodist College Belfast, Neptune RC, Blackrock RC.

The Women’s Junior 16 Eight is the final race of the day on Saturday against Castleconnell BC, Colaiste Iognaid, Cork BC, St Michael’s RC and Commercial RC.

The girl's team includes twins Tori and Brooke Davis, Emily Black, Hannah Armstrong, Meabh Murphy, Abbie McCarthy Magwood, Sienna Howe, Mya Morris and cox Rachel Cathcart. On Sunday, Zara Welsh, Isabella Wright, Acorn Cassidy, Naomi Robinson, Rhea Cartin McCloskey, Ruby Hamill, Kate Huddlestone, Eva Johnston and Cox Jessica Thompson race on Sunday in the Girls Junior Eight.

They had success at Cork Regatta and Lough Rynn Regatta and will hope to build on this and take the Championship title this year.

The Men’s Junior Coxed Four A team of Evan Donaghy, George Kernaghan, Luke Bailey, Austin Cassidy and Katelyn Fee will also take part on Sunday as well as the Junior Coxed Four B side of Harry Coalter, Owen Kelly, Oliver Khew, Ryan Topping and cox Abbey Wilson.
