Enniskillen Cricket Club are preparing for their biggest match of the season on Saturday when they take on Ardent Blues 4s for a place in the semi-final of Northern Cricket Union Development Cup where they will face either Belfast Superkings 2s or B.I.S.C. 5s.

Captain Stephen Maxwell spoke of the excitement and anticipation within the squad for the challenge and they have been preparing for it in training over the past couple of weeks.

"It's a massive game," Maxwell said.

"But we're under no illusions that we need to be at our best for it. We will discuss and plan our strategy for the game but as always it can come down to one or two crucial moments on the field which decides it."

Confidence is high in the squad however and the local team have got to this stage on merit with an excellent win against Cooke Collegians in the first round and that never to be forgotten one run victory against Armagh which brought them to this point.

On the playing front Enniskillen are hoping to have a fully fit squad available for selection.

"We've got a tremendously talented squad," continued Maxwell.

"With proven match winners in both the bowling and batting departments, and Aby Theckanath (batting) and Kenny Maxwell (bowling) are the leading run scorer and wicket taker in the league and cup figures combined.

"In the batting we have fluent stroke players at the top of the order and hard hitting aggressive batsmen in the middle order. In fact there's very few matches that we don't bat from one to11 where all our players are capable of scoring runs.

"In the bowling department we have a wealth of quality seamers all of whom are capable of taking wickets and backed up by several slow bowling alternatives are a well balanced and varied attack for all eventualities."

However the team are not looking beyond the game itself although it is hard not to.

"We're not going to start talking about finals or anything like that," said Maxwell.

"We must keep our feet firmly on the ground but I have great confidence in these guys to produce when it matters we also are calling on all our supporters and followers to make the effort and come and support the team. We want it to be a noisy cauldron which will spur our guys on even more."

The match is scheduled to start at 1pm and again the club welcomes supporters to attend.

Refreshments will be available for all supporters.
