Belnaleck 1-13 Belcoo 0-04
Belnaleck bounced back from their late defeat to Kinawley last Friday night with a comfortable victory over parish rivals Belcoo.
By the time Darragh McGurn dispatched a late penalty to put a further gloss on the scoreline the Leckers were full value for their win.
For Belcoo it was back down to earth with a bang following their battling win over Roslea last Friday to pick up their first win.
Daniel Killed, Belnaleck manager, was delighted to get back to winning ways following two defeats: "Our performance level was above average so that's pleasing on any night."
On the Kinawley game he said: "A tough result for us to come away with no points in a game that we were very much in, we let in a few soft goals but we responded well to both and got a point ahead very late on, but Kinawley found two late scores to snatch it at the death unfortunately."
The first half was an evenly balanced affair with only three points separating the sides at the break but from the restart the home side took control with Belcoo failing to score in the second half.
Che Cullen and McGurn opened the scoring before Belcoo responded through a Lawrence McKeown score and Ciarán Flaherty free.
The sides would trade more scores through Flaherty and Eoin Corrigan for the visitors and Mark McKenzie and McGurn Belnaleck pushed in front before the break with scores from Bryan Owens Lee Cullen and McKenzie to leave it 0-07 to 0-04 at the break.
The second half saw the Leckers being clinical and Belcoo wasteful in attack.
Glenn Treacy, Conor McAuley, McGurn, Oran McCarney and Owens were all on target before McGurn wrapped up the game from the penalty spot for the home side.
It was a good response for Belnaleck who fell to Kinawley thanks to a late Tomas Corrigan free to snatch a 2-07 to 1-09 win.
Kinawley had early scores from Corrigan and Paul Breen before levelled matters.
Corrigan was again on target as was Conor McAuley for Belnaleck before the Borus hit their first goal through Ciaran Breen.
Points from Paul Breen and McGurn left three in it at the break.
A Kane Connor goal on the restart levelled the game but Paul Breen found the net shortly after to restore the Kinawley advantage.
McGurn and Corrigan traded scores again before the Leckers moved into the lead thanks to McGurn and McAuley but two points from Corrigan was enough to win the game for Kinawley.
For Belcoo they failed to build on their win in Roslea.
They raced into a 1-04 to no score lead with Jack O'Dolan pouncing on a rebound to find the net while Michael Burns, Eoin Shiels, Flaherty and Adam Treanor and Conor Mulligan frees along with a Darragh Clerkin score left it 1-04 to 0-03 at the half.
A Flaherty score and McKeown goal pushed Belcoo further ahead but Roslea fought back and Mulligan frees, Treanor and Micheal Flanagan points kept them in touch.
But late scores from Gerard McHigh and Nathan McGovern sealed the win for the O'Rahilly's.
Speaking after the mixed results, Belcoo manager Mickey McGillen said: "Mixed emotions after the two games. Went down to Roslea and put in a good shift and got a great result. A great boost for morale of the squad.
"On Tuesday, went for derby game over to Belnaleck. Went in at halftime still in the game and had missed a few scores in the first half.
"But we just went completely out of it in the second half. We showed Belnaleck too much respect. "Can't afford to do that with their quality and they punished us severely."
