Enniskillen Gaels 3-19 Derrygonnelly 0-06
Enniskillen's imperious form continued on Tuesday evening as they hammered Derrygonnelly in Brewster Park.
It outs them joint top of Division One alongside the Harps who suffered their first defeat of the season.
The Gaels set out their stall from early on as Callum Jones opened the scoring before Ethan Beresford found the Harps net.
Points from Beresford and John Reihill made it 1-04 to no score before Derrygonnelly eventually got on the scoreboard.
Conor Love, Johnny Cassidy and Brandon Horan all pointed for the Gaels with Derrygonnelly's sole response a free before Conall Quinn rattled the net to leave it 2-06 to 0-02 with 16 minutes played.
A Harps point was the next score but Enniskillen would 1-02 as Jack Tierney hit the Harps net for the home side's third goal as Eoin Beacom and Reihill left it 3-09 to 0-05 at the break.
Derrygonnelly would only manage a single score over the course of the second half while the Gaels hit 10 through Reihill, Jones, Ross Bogue, Cassidy and Horan to canter to a 22-point win.
Simon Bradley admitted that Derrygonnelly were missing a core contingent of players but added: "A lot of what we did came off and we had some great passages of play. There are still areas for improvement and we know this is not a reflection on how Derrygonnelly will be in six or eight weeks time."
Last Friday, Enniskillen Gaels turned on the power in the second half in a most impressive victory over visiting Devenish in Brewster Park.
It was a pretty evenly contested opening half but the 2022 county champions surged clear on the resumption with Conor Love in fine form-hitting 0-07 over the hour.
John Reihill and Eoin Beacom weighed in with 1-02 each while Callum Jones notched 0-04.
Devenish made quite a game of it in the opening half with the Gaels leading by 1-08 to 0-06 at the break.
They held Devenish scoreless in the early stages with Jones, Ethan Beresford-a John Reihill goal and a Brandon Horan points into a 1-03 to 0-00 lead after 15 minutes.
Love (0-02) Conor McShea and Reihill completed the first half scoring.
Devenish responded with points from Terry O’Flanagan, Fionan O’Brien (0-02), Cian O’Brien (0-02) and JJ O’Brien.
But the visitors were not able to withstand the second-half surge from the Gaels as they tagged on an eye-catching 1-13 to come out resounding winners.
Reihill Jones and Love went on a scoring spree with an Eoin Beacom goal in the 48th minute capping an impressive all round display.
Devenish responded with a tally of 1-03 in this half with their points coming from veteran Barry Mulrone, Cian O’Brien and Martin Doherty with O’Brien converting a late penalty.
Speaking on the Devenish games, a pleased but pragmatic Enniskillen Gaels boss Simon Bradley said he was happy with the results.
“There were some excellent passages of play but plenty of unforced errors and areas that we need to work on in the next few weeks in the run-up to championship football.
“We are looking forward to a busy period over the next two weeks for he senior and reserve squads when our strength in depth will be tested.”
For Derrygonnelly the win came after a 0-24 to 0-07 win over Derrylin.
16 points in the first half laid the foundations for the victory with Declan Cassidy, Ryan Jones, Conall Jones and Stephen McGullion were all on target in that opening half hour.
Jake Smith, Diarmuid Owens and Cathair Leonard manged scores for Derrylin who trailed 0-16 to 0-03 at the break.
Early scores upon the restart from Derrylin's Declan Curry and Kian Prior did little to stop Derrygonnelly's dominance as Rian McGovern and Gary McKenna were on target for the Harps in this comfortable win.
