St. Pat’s, Donagh 3-12 Coa 1-09

St. Pat’s made it two wins in four days as they hit three goals at home to Coa on Friday evening at the Louis Leonard Memorial Park.

It was a third win of the league for Donagh who have moved up to fifth place in Division Two.

For Coa, it was another defeat, as they are yet to pick up a win.

Coa player/manager Gary Lynch said after the game: “Happy with how we played. We conceded three really avoidable goals which is frustrating and that was the difference in the game other than that I thought we played well.”

Mark McGovern and Caoilte Farry traded scores early on with Ben Thompson then cancelling out Sean Daly’s point.

Daly converted a free and that was shortly followed by the game’s first goal with less than 10 minutes played as Shay Cadden got in behind the Coa defence and found the net with a neat finish.

Farry responded a few moments later when he split the posts with a mark until Brian McDermott found room and pointed.

The O’Dwyers came roaring back into the game when Paddy Murphy picked up the ball out wide and made his way towards goal before finding Farry who volleyed home into the net.

St. Pat’s responded well to the goal and, despite two further points from Coa in the half, Eoghan Curran, Cadden and Tiernan Way stretched the lead to 1-07 to 1-05 going in halftime.

Points from Pearse McDermott, Daly, Curran and Cadden opened up a six-point lead at the start of the second half with Caoilte and Jason Farry then pointing for the away team.

Pat Grue added a point before McDermott’s ball into the square was prodded into the net by Cadden.

Another Cadden goal to complete his hat-trick came in between points from Oisin Farry and Niall Quinn to close out the game as Cadden’s late goals sealed the win.
