Derrylin 0-06 Belnaleck 2-09

Belnaleck took a fourth win from six with a derby victory away to Derrylin last weekend.

Daniel Kille’s side now sit in fifth spot, four points behind leaders Enniskillen Gaels.

Goals from Glenn Treacy and Conor McAuley eased their side to another win, leaving manager Kille pleased after Tuesday’s big win over Belcoo: “Our aim this week was to get two wins, we achieved that on Friday night in Derrylin.

"We were made to work hard for it, as Derrylin are a dogged outfit and don't give nothing easy, it was a slippery night for football, but we managed to get our levels up a good number of times and stretch clear when it really mattered.

"We are now four wins out of six in the normal league, something we must be very pleased with.”

Derrylin took a two-point lead on Friday, despite still struggling for numbers, as Fearghal McGovern pointed twice in the opening moments.

Belnaleck came back with a goal, however, as Conor McAuley shrugged off a couple of challenges before drilling the ball low to the net.

Points from McAuley, Darragh McGurn and Bryan Owens pushed their side into a 1-04 to 0-04 lead at the interval with Diarmuid Owens and Ruaidhri McGoldrick adding the O’Connell’s other two points.

Derrylin could only manage two points in the second half as the game got away from them when Glenn Treacy broke their defensive line and gave the opposing goalkeeper no chance with a powerful finish following a good team move.

McAuley, McGurn and Kane Connor all tagged on scores to wrap up a convincing win in the end as McGovern landed two more points for Sean Donnelly’s side.

Belnaleck face Enniskillen Gaels on Wednesday this week in an earlier fixture while Derrylin will be keen to bounce back at home to Ederney on Friday night.
