Brookeborough 2-04 Tempo 4-14
Tempo came out victorious in this year’s Ladies Club Players' League Silver final with a convincing 2-14 to 2-04 triumph over Brookeborough in Teemore on Sunday.
A brace from Bronagh Tierney and majors from Megan Hamilton and Cora McCaughey set Tempo on their way to lifting the Silver honours.
Tempo booked their place in the final with a 7-05 to 4-09 win over Knockninny Gaels the Sunday before while Brookeborough advanced through after Ederney conceded their game.
Tempo were without county players Shannan McQuade, Bláithin Bogue, Cadhla-Cara Bogue and Eva Finlay McGovern but still produced an impressive display over their nearby rivals.
Tempo manager Stephen Jackson praised his side’s efforts after the win.
"Very happy to get the win, and considering we have 25 per cent of our team on county duty and have been missing other players with injury at times,” he said.
“This has meant we have given many other younger and squad players essential game time at 13/15 a side senior level. So overall, this will benefit the entire panel.”
Bronagh Tierney netted a first-half goal alongside points from Hannah McNabb, Megan Hamilton and Cleona Bogue as the Maguires took in a healthy lead at the halftime whistle with Brookeborough only managing to score a point in the opening half.
Hamilton found the net early in the second half with Molly Flynn and Dee Curran also adding points for Tempo.
Brookeborough landed points through Megan Wray, Aine McCarney and Nuala McManus with Wray and McManus also finding the goals.
McManus won her side’s kickout and three passes later she received the ball from Sarah Teague off the shoulder to run through and bury low to the net.
Teague also set up Wray when she found her alone on the edge of the square to finish.
However, goals from Tempo’s Tierney and Cora McCaughey meant there was no real chance of a second-half comeback as Jackson’s side held onto the win, with Tierney finishing with 2-01 and Hamilton with 1-05.
