Sophie Barrett has been named Ireland's MVP for the 2024 Women's Summer Series after a number of impressive displays in Italy.
Ireland capped off their tournament, on the final day, with a brilliant 37-7 win over Scotland as the Enniskillen native landed the opening try of the game with just five minutes played.
The 20-year-old and her teammates played three games over the course of the series at the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi, the home of Zebre Parma.
Barrett received the accolade via a peer vote while Margherita Tonelotto (Italy back rower), Hawa Tounkara (France centre), Niamh Swailes (England hooker), Gemma Bell (Scotland flanker) and Maisie Davies (Wales prop) were also singled out and named MVP’s of their own respective teams after stellar performances from each game.
The Women’s Summer Series was a first of its kind as it offered valuable international experience for some of Europe’s upcoming rugby stars, Barrett will now look to continue her form at the Inter Pros.
