Ireland’s Women’s Sevens will look to build on their success in Perth back in January where they claimed a first World Series win after defeating hosts Australia.
They kick off their Olympic campaign against Great Britain on Sunday before games with South Africa and Australia.
Carrybridge’s very own Claire Boles is a travelling reserve for Ireland and could be called into action if the squad sustain any injuries or illnesses in the tournament.
"We definitely expect it to be tough. We know they (GB) got a few players back from the 15s that has changed their squad from the rest of the season, we know they’ll be good and they’ll have been practicing away, like us. I think it’ll be a good game,” Boles said speaking ahead of the opener.
Ireland will hope to advance out of Pool B with Fiji, Canada, China and New Zealand facing off in Pool A.
USA, Japan, Brazil and France will all meet in Pool C.
