Roslea 1-07 Kinawley 0-09

Shane Lynch’s injury-time goal sent Roslea supporters into raptures at Shamrock Park last Thursday night and has given his side a glimmer of hope of staying in Division One this year.

It was the Shamrock’s first league win of the season after six straight defeats but the result lifted them above relegation rivals Belcoo at the foot of the table.

Roslea manager Ciaran Murphy said his side got the bit of fortune they deserved last week.

“We haven’t been playing that badly, we’ve just been going down the wrong side of very close defeats,” he said.

“We’re still missing a lot of injured men which has probably proven costly, but I suppose we kinda got a wee bit of the rub of the green there against Kinawley and got over the line, so, it gives us a bit of a fighting chance going into the last two games.”

Roslea took an 0-03 to 0-01, and a 0-04 to 0-02 lead during the first half at Shamrock Park before eventually taking an 0-05 to 0-04 advantage in at the break.

Shane McMahon, Adam Treanor, Shane Lynch and Niall Cosgrove all hit points while, for Kinawley, Sean McManus led their scoring with Liam Owens also adding.

McManus brought his personal haul to four points in the second half as Caolan Brennan, Donnacha Morris, Ciaran Breen and a Paidi Drumm mark edged Kinawley out in front with Cosgrove adding his third point of the game for Roslea to make it 0-09 to 0-07 going into the closing stages.

With Roslea pushing for a goal in the final seconds, they got just that as a ball across the square was flicked in by Lynch who threw himself at the ball to snatch both points and keep survival hopes alive heading into the two final league fixtures.
