Maguiresbridge 1-10 Lisnaskea 1-13

Lisnaskea got back to winning ways as they defeated neighbours Maguiresbridge in a dogged affair at Páirc na hÓige on an overcast and damp Friday evening.

With only a point in it at halftime, Lisnaskea would finish the stronger of the sides as a red and black card in quick succession deflated Maguiresbridge’s chances of a second league win midway into the second half.

Lisnaskea assistant manager Johnny Feeley said after the game: “Good to get a win, we were without a few key men on the night through injuries and unavailability, but the likes of Justy McDade particularly stepped up and had a great game, kicking 1-04, which was pleasing.

"Another positive was that the lads who came into the team on Friday night did well, they've put their hands up for more game time, which is important for the squad ahead of the championship."

Meanwhile, ‘Bridge manager Adrian Diver said: “We were happy enough with our performance but obviously we didn’t get the result and this has been the case for the last three games.

"We do feel that we will get the results that our performances deserve soon.

"We dominated the first-half and should have gone in ahead but we conceded a very sloppy goal just at the end of the first-half which was ultimately the difference between the two sides."

Dan Teague and Fionn Nolan kicked the home side into an early two-point lead with Joe McDade responding at the other end.

Teague pushed his side further ahead with another couple of points as Joe and Justy McDade added points at the other end alongside Damian Óg Kelly.

Mark Hughes added a couple of frees for the home side and Darragh McPhillips was also on target.

Two poor giveaways allowed Justy McDade to find a yard and power home the game’s opening goal a few minutes before the break.

Dylan Tierney and Sean Corrigan traded scores to make it 1-06 to 0-08 at the break.

Justy McDade landed two early frees in the second half, but the ‘Bridge drew level when Nolan converted a penalty.

Another Kelly point was followed by a second yellow card, for Ryan Gavin, and then a black card for Teague two minutes between each other.

The hosts only kicked two second-half points through a Hughes free and substitute Mark Gavin as the Emmets eventually pushed their way to victory with scores from Eoin McCabe, Mark Little and Kelly.

While Diver’s side pushed hard for a goal in the final moments, a rigid ‘Skea defence held on to secure a fourth league win.
