Enniskillen Gaels 2-11 Roslea 0-09
Enniskillen Gaels retained the Erne Cup with an eight-point win over Roslea in Donagh last weekend.
Conor Watson and Jamie Steele hit second-half goals that helped push their side out in front at the Louis Leonard Memorial Park as they eventually eased to victory with Roslea unable to find a desired goal.
Enniskillen booked their place in the final after finishing top of B McCaffrey & Sons Erne Cup Division One, winning 12 games from 15 with the Shamrocks in close second winning nine and finishing five points behind Saturday’s opponents.
Gaels boss Dara McManus was pleased with his side’s performance but insisted they want more silverware before the season concludes.
“Great to get the win in a good tight game,” he said.
“A large portion of lads have played a significant amount of football, which is great for their development, and we have worked hard to get to this point.
"The whole group has put a big emphasis on the reserves this year, so, we’re glad to have something to show for that effort. Seniors take priority now for the next week or so then we’ll prepare for a reserve championship semi-final.”
Shane Lynch opened the scoring early on for Roslea but Enniskillen soon hit back through Ben Kettyles.
Conor Watson and Jamie Steele would then both open their accounts for the evening with points, however, the Shamrocks would again stay in touch through Brian Maguire and Niall Clerkin.
Points from Watson, Ryan McGandy and Lorcan Love saw the Gaels take a two-point lead in at halftime.
Roslea levelled early in the second half through Niall Beggan and a Lynch free, but Enniskillen found the net shortly after as a shot at the Roslea goal cannoned off the post and Watson was on hand to bury the ball on the rebound.
Lynch tagged on a couple of scores until James O’Donnell split the posts at the other end.
A second goal from Steele put the Gaels in the driving seat as he took on his man down the wing and drilled a low shot to the net after creating a yard of space.
Gaels closed out the win with a couple of points as they now look forward to championship action later this month.
