Devenish 1-10 Derrygonnelly Harps 3-17
Derrygonnelly had simply too much power and panache for a gallant but outgunned Devenish side, booking their place in the Division One league final with a game to spare.
Two well-executed goals in the fifth, tenth, and 29th minutes from Rory Joe Duffy (2-00) and Gary McKenna gave the visitors a solid platform as they led 3-07 to 0-05 at the break.
McKenna and Fionan O’Brien swapped points before Duffy’s first well-finished goal, which gave the Harps a firm start.
Rian McGovern added a point and McKenna grabbed a goal to put the Harps into a 2-02 to 0-01 lead after ten minutes.
Ryan Jones and Stephen McGullion added to that tally as Cian O’Brien pointed for Devenish.
McKenna and Fionan O’Brien (0-02) traded points as Aidan McKenna pointed before Duffy’s second goal, leaving the Harps in front by 3-07 to 0-05 at the break.
The Harps had the first score of the second half from veteran Declan Cassidy, but Garrison hit back with points from Jarlath O’Brien, Cian O’Brien, and Fionan O’Brien.
Gary McKenna (0-02), Duffy, and McGullion stretched the cruising visitors' lead.
McKenna landed a few more frees before the finish, with Ryan Jones also on target.
Conor McGowan bagged a goal for Devenish in the 57th minute, but it made no difference to this comprehensive win for the Harps over a less-than-full-strength Devenish side, who battled but were well outgunned.
Derrygonnelly mentor Paul Greene said he was pleased with the display, as they have earned a final slot with Enniskillen Gaels in a few weeks' time.
“Yes, it was a good win, but Devenish were missing a few key players. I thought we were pretty clinical throughout.
"Young Rory Joe Duffy showed up well, and he hit 2-01. We were generally sharp up front, and he is shaping up well.
"We are still short a few players like Aaron (Jones), Leigh (Jones), Garvan (Jones), Niall Maguire, and Conall Jones, so it was good to rack up that score.
"Maybe defensively we could have been better, but you are always looking for more. We now face Enniskillen Gaels in the League final in a few weeks' time.”
Meanwhile, disappointed Devenish manager Marty O’Brien said: “This was not a good day for us.
“We gifted Derrygonnelly a few goals, and you just can’t afford to do that.
"That left us with a mountain to climb, given their quality and organisation."
