Teemore 2-10 Aghadrumsee 0-09
Teemore are now one win away from promotion to Division One after defeating Aghadrumsee at St. Mary’s Park on Friday evening.
The teams were level at halftime but two goals from Jack Quinlan and eight points via Eoin McManus guided the Shamrocks to another win as they remain unbeaten this league campaign.
Manager Tony Collins said after the game: “It was a good contest, Aghadrumsee were well-organised and were up for it.
"We played a decent second half, so, again, it was a matter of getting a win to keep the confidence high heading into the last game.”
That last league game comes this Friday and will decide who takes second place as Teemore travel to Tempo to take on the Maguires for second place.
“Listen there’s been very little between those teams going down the years,” Collins added looking ahead to Tempo.
“It’s been tit for tat. It will be a good contest, I suppose last year, we drew with them in the league proper.
"The reality is, I think there’s very little between the teams. It will be whoever makes the least mistakes on the night.”
The teams were tied at 1-03 to 0-06 at the halfway stage with Eoin McManus leading the Shamrock scoring while Jack Quinlan made his way in behind the Magpies' defence to find the net.
Aghadrumsee missed a penalty in the opening half, but points from Eddie Courtney, Aidan Bannon, Aodhan Durnian and Darren Kearns ensured they went into the interval with level.
Points from Bannon, Enda McCabe and Damien Flanagan brought their tally up to 0-10, however, another Quinlan goal was strengthened by points from McManus, Jamie Hughes and Cian McManus to wrap up a seven-point win.
Aghadrumsee manager Jason O’Connor said after the game: “I was reasonably happy with the game.
"We went in level at halftime and really, we should have been going in ahead as we missed a penalty, a few frees, and a 45’.
"We knew that Teemore would get a purple patch and they did for the first 15 minutes of the second half and pushed ahead, but we still had chances to bring it back but ultimately didn't take them and against a team as good as Teemore you need to be taking every single chance you get or they'll punish you.
"I was happy with the lads, the way they played and battled right to the very end.
"There is very little negativity to take away, we have a tough game now on Friday evening against Brookeborough which we fully concentrate on now as they had a good win over Coa.”
