Brookeborough 1-03 St Pat’s, Donagh 3-10
St. Pat’s bounced back from their loss to Tempo with a win over Brookeborough on Tuesday night in a rescheduled fixture.
The side’s meeting in July was called to a halt when Donagh’s Johnny O’Reilly suffered a serious injury in Brookeborough.
A brace from Paddy Treacy and another goal from Brian McDermott eased them to a fifth win from eight league games in Division Two.
Donagh led 3-04 to 1-01 at halftime with points from McDermott, Jason Grew and Dara Foster adding to McDermott and Treacy's goals.
Damian Curran netted for Brookeborough before the break along with a point from Joe Corcoran.
The home side registered points in the second half through Conall McDonagh and Aidan Boyle, but a further six points through Grew, Foster, Treacy, and Michael McGrade brought the St. Pat's tally up to 3-10.
Brookeborough manager Donal Boyle said after the game: “Tuesday is a bad day for senior games, this had to be played before end of league.
"Between men working away and injuries we had a skeleton squad."
Brookeborough landed their first win of the campaign against Coa last Friday night as Mickey Campbell slotted home a last-minute goal to lift them off the foot of the league table, with a 2-06 to 0-11 scoreline.
Coa led 0-04 to 0-03 at halftime with Lee McQuade, Caoilte Farry and Niall Quinn all pointing for the Dwyer’s, while Dylan Bogue, Aaron Foy and Rory Greene responded.
Further points from Farry, Ben Thompson, Robbie McKenna and McQuade gave Coa a two-point lead heading into the closing stages after Cathal Moane scored a goal and pointed in addition to points via Tommy McCaffrey and Damian Curran at the other end.
With a final roll of the dice, a ball into the square was gathered by Campbell and he fired home to win the game.
Boyle was pleased to see his side rewarded after some impressive performances: “Good to get the win, we had been working on being more competitive in the last few games.
"Still missing a few men and will hopefully have them back for championship.”
Meanwhile, Coa player/manager Gary Lynch said his side shouldn’t have allowed Brookeborough back into the game: “I thought we played ok just, and had done enough to win the game.
"We got caught with the last kick. It was tough to take but that’s football you don’t always get what you deserve.
"We’ll take our medicine and regroup. We should’ve been ahead by more than two points but weren’t clinical enough up front.”
