The Run for Oisín hosted its annual race during the Belcoo Sports and Festival over the weekend. 

The festival kicked off with afternoon tea last Saturday before the Children’s Tractor Run and the Blessing of Graves followed later on.

Participants came in numbers to take part in the event beginning on Railway Street in the town, in memory of Oisín McGrath.

James Naan came out on top in the Run for Oisín 10K with Paul Callaghan and Ronan McManus coming in second and third.

Joanne Curran came first out of the female runners with Darlea McCaffrey and Julie Hull coming in shortly after. Paul McGrath took the local honours.

In the 5k, Charlie Reihill, from St Michael’s College, recorded the quickest time, with his school teammate Patrick Sprice coming second.

Enda Gilmartin came third while Eimear Higgins came first out of the female runners in the 5K and took the local top spot in the process.

Stacey McCabe and Siobhan Gorman came second and third. Jack Donnelly came first in the U16 male runners, but second overall in the race.

Caoimhe Murphy took first for the U16 girls. Belcoo will continue its festival this week with many other activities for families and friends of all ages.
