Lisnaskea 1-08 St Pat’s, Donagh 0-13
St. Pat’s leapfrogged neighbours Lisnaskea in the final game of Division Two to finish above them in the league table.
Two points were the difference at Emmet Park on Friday as Donagh picked up a sixth win from nine league games to cement fourth spot.
Lisnaskea edged the sides meeting in the Club Players’ Competition at the start of the year, but they were unable to capitalise on their halftime advantage as St. Pat’s kicked seven second-half points.
"It was a typical derby game and St. Pats probably edged it on the night,” said Emmets' assistant manager Johnny Feeley after the game.
With championship rankings, the sides look set to meet again in the intermediate competition.
Feeley added: “Both teams were obviously mindful that there's a bigger game coming down the line in the championship and neither side wanted to show their hand for that.
"Injuries and unavailability meant Friday was an opportunity for four or five lads to get their first start of the year and other squad members to get some game time, so it was a useful exercise all around.”
Lisnaskea led 1-05 to 0-06 at halftime in a hotly contested derby affair.
Hayden Lynch converted the game’s only goal from the penalty spot after Eoin McCabe was fouled.
Lynch also added a point that was added to by Ethan McCaffrey and three scores via Damian Óg Kelly.
Brian McDermott led St. Pat’s scoring in the first-half as he split the posts three times. Eoghan Curran and Sean Daly added to leave two points between the sides at the interval.
McCaffrey and Mark Little were on target for the Emmets in the second half, but their opponents would level and then go further ahead with their free-taking ability coming into use.
Shay Cadden kicked some crucial scores for Donagh while Eoghan Curran also added for the away side.
St. Pat’s closed out the win and despite Skea’s attempts to push men forward in the final few moments, they were unable to land a third derby victory in a row with a two-point defeat.
Despite Lisnaskea having a better point difference, St. Pat's finished above them on head-to-head, both having 13 points each.
