Belnaleck 4-09 Roslea 2-11

Belnaleck finished their league campaign with a win over Roslea last Friday at home.

Daniel Kille’s side ran out 4-09 to 2-11 winners to confirm fifth spot, level on points with Kinawley who took fourth.

Roslea will go back down to Division Two after suffering relegation last time out against Enniskillen Gaels, however, they led at halftime in Bellanaleck with Niall Cosgrove netting in each half.

However, three second-half goals would steer Belnaleck to a sixth win from nine games as Darragh McGurn, Ciaran McBrien and Ryan Cassidy were all on target.

The sides were locked at 0-03 apiece midway through the opening half as Cosgrove, Adam Treanor and Shane Lynch all split the posts for the travelling side.

The hosts fired over scores to keep themselves in the contest as McGurn, Ché Cullen and Bryan Owens all pointed.

Kille’s side edged out in front as a mix-up in the Roslea defence allowed Cullen to bag the game’s first goal.

It didn’t take long for the Shamrocks to hit back as a well-worked move allowed Cosgrove to find space and bury his effort to the net.

While McGurn pointed at one end, Roslea answered through Conor Mulligan and Treanor to take a two-point lead in at the interval.

Roslea raced into a five-point lead at the beginning of the second half with Treanor, Cosgrove and Lynch all pointing.

Glenn Treacy and Owens tagged on efforts at the other end as they breached the Roslea defence for a second goal as McGurn found the net this time.

McBrien and Cassidy would both add a point and then a goal each as the home side would push further ahead heading into the closing stages.

Roslea would hit another goal through Cosgrove but would lose out by four points in the end.
