Tummery Athletic 3-0 Augher Stars

Tummery Athletic bounced back from their defeat to Killen on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Augher Stars on Tuesday evening.

Barry Goodwin, Malachy McLaughlin and Ciaran Beacom all found the net in Dromore to give new manager Kevy McAleer his first win.

“All round an excellent performance from back to front including the subs who done really well when they came on,” McAleer said after the win.

“Started positively on the front foot creating several great chances before actually taking one, due in large to the Augher goalkeeper who was superb tonight.

"The second half we maybe just got complacent and started to play at their tempo instead of ours and tried forcing the ball a bit too much for my liking, but we soon snapped out of that after a formation change and got back to doing the simple things well and creating more goalscoring chances.

"All in all, a good first home performance, three points and a clean sheet.”

Goodwin opened the scoring after just six minutes at Crawfords Lane as good link-up play between Gary Duffy and Gerard Duddy saw the ball played to the edge of the area for Goodwin to run on to and find the top corner with a superb strike.

McLaughlin doubled the lead on 20 minutes and it was the right-hand side again that was causing all kinds of concern for Augher.

Duffy intercepted a loose pass in the box and the challenge on him broke for McLaughlin who zipped his effort in at the near post.

Ciaran Beacom made it three goals before halftime as two minutes before the whistle he headed home from Aidy McCaffrey’s cross after a cleared corner.

A tough two opening games for Augher saw them lose to Enniskillen Town on Saturday as they now play Beragh this weekend while Tummery face Irvinestown.
