Aghadrumsee 2-16 Derrylin 2-11

Aghadrumsee were crowned reserve champions with a five-point win in a hotly-contested Grade Three final in Donagh.

It went all the to extra time at the Louis Leonard Memorial Park on Saturday evening but Jason O’Connor’s side eventually pulled away.

Speaking after the game, O’Connor said: “Ah look it was great to win, the championship win meant the lads have won both the league and championship.

"The boys deserve immense credit for it as for large parts of the year we were struggling for numbers with the injuries we had and to even field games was an achievement.

"There is a great squad with us and there are lads in every position fighting for a spot on the senior team and that's what drove us home in the final as every one of the lads have been training hard and it was maybe the fitness that got us over the line at the end.”

Meanwhile, Derrylin boss Enda McCarron commented: “We thought we had done enough throughout the game to get the win but the last-minute goal was a sucker punch and extra time was always going to be difficult given the age profile of our team.

"I’m very proud of the lads this year and the effort they have put in. To top the league and make both league and championship finals was a great achievement.

"Well done to Aghadrumsee.”

Aidan Bannon led the Magpies scoring with 0-08 to his name in the end. Enda McCabe, Aodhan Durnian and Danny Crudden also chipped in with scores.

Goals from Eoin Maguire and Pauric Owens saw Derrylin leading the game heading into the final moments of injury time.

Barry Murray, Kian Prior, Brian Lunney and Mark Lynam were among their point scorers.

A late goal from McCabe saw the game go to extra time, 1-13 to 2-10.

Another goal from Crudden and points from Durnian and Bannon saw Aghadrumsee pick up the win.
