Enniskillen Gaels boss Simon Bradley was expecting no less than a close and well-contested game at Brewster Park against Teemore and that’s exactly what his side got.
However, the Gaels started with a win and were only one of four teams to do so last weekend with a draw in every championship group in the Senior and Intermediate.
“It was a typical championship game,” Bradley said looking back on the win. “I thought Teemore were excellent throughout, to be honest.
"Maybe if we had of taken our chances, particularly in the second-half. I think we had 12 wides in the second-half, most of them in good scoring positions, I think the game could have been decided much earlier.
"That’s the risk you take then at the end, everybody knows what can happen with a three-point game. At training this week we’ll be focusing on a couple of things and one of them will definitely be shooting, not that our shooting has been bad but we just didn’t have our shooting boots with us.
"The shots we took were good shots, we wouldn’t complain about that, but we just didn’t execute properly.”
Bradley was impressed with Teemore on their return to the Senior Championship: “It didn’t surprise me that Teemore were as good as they were.
"I watched them the previous week against Irvinestown, I know Tony well and I know he has his teams well organised. They do have some very dangerous players and those players played very well.
"(Oisin) Murphy played very well, (Ronan) McCaffrey played very well, the McNally’s, Cian McManus was very good, so, they got some big performances out of their key players, which is what you want them to do in the championship.
"Moving forward our group is wide open and other teams will think that as well.”
Bradley will be hoping his side make it two wins from two when they travel to face Belnaleck on Saturday.
“I went to Belnaleck and Kinawley and, again, a typical championship game,” he added.
“Played at a very fast pace, difficult conditions, with the wind blowing strong but I was impressed with both teams. Both teams well set-up and another hard-hitting game.”
