Derrygonnelly and Kinawley met in a hotly contested clash at Canon Maguire Park on Sunday with the Borus prevailing by three points with a final scoreline of 2-09 to 2-06.
Even with a round of fixtures left to play, the Harps and the Borus will meet again in this year’s Division One final with third-placed Belcoo still five points behind Derrygonnelly.
Both sides were without some key names on Saturday as Kinawley’s Gemma McCaffrey hit 1-07 while Eimear Smyth scored all of the Harps’ 2-06.
Kinawley led 0-04 to 0-01 at halftime with McCaffrey hitting four frees as Derrygonnelly’s sole point came via Smyth from play.
Smyth netted an early second-half goal but Niamh McManus responded at the other end with a neat finish. The sides traded points as McCaffrey, Aine McGovern and Lisa Maguire answered Smyth’s efforts.
Smyth and McCaffrey found late goals but the away side ran out winners by just a kick of a ball in the end.
Belcoo secured a five-point win at home to Newtownbutler on Sunday morning, 1-09 to 0-07.
Eimear Higgins hit two early points alongside teammate Sam Martin while Shannen Courtney and Cliodhna Martin pointed for the away side.
Higgins and Molly McGloin traded points as Newtownbutler’s Aisling Quinn then sent a penalty over the bar. Aoife McPartland and Sinead Barrett added Belcoo points before halftime.
Higgins again got her name on the scoresheet early in the second half as Ella McGovern followed pursuit shortly after.
Courtney tagged on two points before Higgins pointed again. Ella McGovern palmed down a high ball into the square for Abbie McGovern to finish to the net with just over 10 minutes to go at MacNean Park.
Courtney converted a late free to put five between the teams but it came too late as Belcoo are now just a point away from a guaranteed third spot as they go into their final game away to Derrygonnelly this Sunday.
Tempo are still in with a shout of pipping the O’Rahilly’s to third but they face a tough test in their final league fixture away to Kinawley on Friday evening.

In Division Two, Lisnaskea hammered Belnaleck 5-17 to 2-03 while Devenish upset league leaders Ederney with a 3-14 to 0-09 win at St Joseph’s Park.
