Malachy O’Rourke is reportedly close to being announced as new Tyrone boss after joint managers Brian Dooher and Feargal Logan stepped down from the position.
Former Erne boss O’Rourke had his name put forward by club Errigal Ciarán and could be announced by next week with a county committee meeting scheduled.
It is understood he was the only name put forward for the position.
O’Rourke has had a successful spell with Derry side Glen picking up three county titles, two Ulster trophies and led them to All-Ireland senior club glory last January, having lost out in the final the year beforehand.
He transferred to Tyrone side Errigal Ciarán from Derrylin in the 1990s and won two championships with the Tyrone side.
Monaghan were the last county side managed by O’Rourke who left the position in 2019. He also led Fermanagh to an Ulster Championship final in 2008.
Former bosses Dooher and Logan led the Red Hands to the All-Ireland Championship back in 2021 but suffered a disappointing end to their campaign last season with a shock defeat to Roscommon that saw them crash out before the All-Ireland quarter-final stage.
