It was indeed a pleased Kinawley boss Dom Corrigan as he reflected on a superb second-half display that lit up a so far pretty tepid championship.
Kinawley stormed the Teemore citadel and hit it for a whopping 1-10 after a quiet start.
“I was very pleased with the second-half as Teemore were the better team in the first-half and should have been further ahead at half-time, “ said Corrigan.
“Half-time came at the right time for us and the wrong time for Teemore.
“Teemore’s defensive set up in the first half was excellent and we found it very hard to break it.
“We re-set for the second half and told the boys that they needed to step up for the second half and they certainly did that in style.
“We had a big challenge at half-time and fair play to Teemore they threw it down to us but the boys responded well individually and collectively, and I thought we moved the ball at pace and got our support runners on quicker and we nailed on scores.”
He added: “Eventually we got to grips with it and even though we missed the penalty the big thing about any setback is to respond positively and we did just that.
“Seanie MacManus is a brilliant penalty taker but bounced back very well from that miss and we were very much in control for the second-half.
“There was great energy there today and this win has guaranteed us Senior championship football and put us into the quarter-finals.
“And we will have a shot at Enniskillen for the semi-finals and we are very pleased where we are at now.
“We will savour this one tonight and then we will push on.
“Tomás kept us in the game in the first-half and Ruairi got the goal and we got on top in the middle and it was a good test.
“But Enniskillen will be an even bigger test.”
Meanwhile disappointed Teemore joint-manager Barry Owens saluted Kinawley’s power and pace.
“We could have been further ahead at the break, but we missed two good goal chances and gave away a few soft frees.
“That’s the way championship football is and if you don’t take your chances the better teams will punish you and that is what Kinawley did to us in the second-half.
“They had a big second half and we were expecting it as they were in the SFL final in 2022 and in the county championship semi-final last year.
“They are a seasoned team and a Division One team, but we made a lot of mistakes, and it was one of those games where things just did not go for us.”
Teemore could only muster a point in the entire second half which was disappointing for Owens and his team.
“They owned the ball, but we gave the ball away a lot and took the ball into tackles and got turned over.
“We are just coming up from Division Two and they are Division One and you get away with a lot more in Division Two than in the top division and it is a learning curve for us.
“We have Belnaelck next, and if we beat them we are in the quarter-finals so the lads know exactly what is in front of them.”
