Tummery Athletic 4-0 Dergview Reserves
Tummery Athletic made it five wins on the bounce as they saw off Dergview Reserves 4-0 at Crawfords Lane on Saturday afternoon.
Shea Devlin continued his rich vein of form in front of goal as he netted a brace following his quarter of goals in the Junior Cup against Roe Valley.
Calum Hunter and Barry Goodwin also got on the scoresheet as Tummery moved into second in the Mercer League.
“Good hard-working team performance against a tough Dergview side who are better than their results show,” Athletic boss Kevin McAleer said after the game.
“We always looked dangerous on the break creating a lot of chances and were solid at the back again limiting Dergview's chances to mainly set pieces.
"Another win and another clean sheet, but now we go again and prepare for another tough game away to Lisbellaw next week.
"Drumad is always a hard place to go and get a result, so we know we are going to have to be at our best if we are to get the result we want.”
Both sides had chances in a close opening half an hour in Dromore but Tummery eventually took the lead after 32 minutes when Aidy McCaffrey released Gerard Duddy down the right wing and he pulled the ball back across the box for Hunter to run onto and take a touch before sliding past goalkeeper Tiernan McNamee.
Although, Dergview responded well to the goal they were unable to find an equaliser and instead, Tummery doubled their advantage on the stroke of halftime.
Malachy McLaughlin headed the ball down to Goodwin in the centre of the park and the latter poked the ball over the top of the Dergview defence for Devlin to run onto and bear down on goal before placing a right-footed effort into the bottom right corner at the near post.
Again there wasn’t much between the sides until the second half as Tummery struck twice late on to seal the win.
The same combination for the second goal found the third as a quickly taken free kick by Declan McNulty was latched onto by Goodwin who ran down the right-hand side of the box before chipping in a cross that evaded Ciaran Beacom but it fell for Devlin who took a touch and fired in from an angle at the near post for 3-0.
Dergview went close to pulling one back but Nathan Hunter pushed a low-driven effort onto the post.
Tummery sealed the win in added time when Devlin fed Goodwin and he picked out the top left corner inside the box.
Tummery make the trip to Lisbellaw this weekend while Dergview host league leaders Enniskillen Town.
